DART station projects begin with a prototypical plan which the architect and artist can customize, based on the design team's own ideas and input from the community. With the platform columns, Mr. Lamb chose to reference a cast-concrete WPA era boathouse on the shore of White Rock Lake, not far from the station. The columns of the "Cornucopia Arbor" are of the same design.
